Education
I attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, a small liberal arts college that prides itself on being a community of learners. At Lawrence, students are encouraged to try anything they are interested in and I took a variety of courses in many subjects while earning my degree in History and Chemistry. Over the course of my time at Lawrence I also completed requirements for teacher certification and graduated with four teaching licenses in Chemistry, History, Social Studies, and Science.
My time at Lawrence showed me that all knowledge is connected and that interdisciplinary study is important to being a well rounded life long learner. Science is a part of history, history is apart of science, and writing and math are apart of everything. It is hard to learn about one subject individually without seeing how they connect, crossover, and intertwine.
After Lawrence I enrolled in another licensure program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where I completed the requirements for a fifth license in Mathematics.

Athletics

Athletics, like for many other students, was a defining part of my education. Although you might not learn about the "core four" subjects on the court or field, students learn lessons about perseverance, respect, and responsibility. In my time at Lawrence I competed in Cross Country and Track, giving me life skills I didn't know I needed and friendships that have transcended into adulthood.
I feel like the skills and lessons we learn in sport, or any extracurricular are too important to be ignored. Whether its music, art, sport, or anything in between I advocate for opportunities for any student to branch out of academics and find lifelong hobbies and friends.
